YAV placement update!

Dear family, friends, mentors, and other wonderful humans whom I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet,
Thank you so much for all of your love and support of my Tucson mission through the PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program. I have been so encouraged by the overwhelming financial support through the June month of Change for Change that helped blow my $3000 fundraising requirement out of the water! Your dollars will go towards the Tucson site's mission of working for social justice in the community, especially within the hotbed of immigration policy and reform as it affects the Borderlands, and the money raised over the $3000 will be saved until I designate other needs after I jump into projects in Tucson. I am also overjoyed to update everyone that as of the middle of July, I have been placed to work with the organization BorderLinks to do immigration justice educational outreach in the Tucson area as well as co-lead delegations from the U.S. to the border and to Mexico, much like the one I was fortunate to go on with a St. Luke group in 2007! I am so blessed by how my community has chosen to devote its hearts and financial support to stand in solidarity with all those who seek to work for justice and common humanity on the border, and I thank you for supporting my YAV year of experiential learning through this wonderful program. Please feel free to follow my experience as I update this blog with reflections and stories throughout the year!

Peace be with you.
